For
patients with above-knee amputation or knee diasarticulation,
SCOPe has teamed with Otto
Bock, one of the most highly regarded
providers of prosthetic components, to offer the C-Leg prosthesis.
The C-Leg is a computer-controlled hydraulic knee and foot
system
that activates the swing and stance phases of gait. This system
very closely matches gait traits that are present in the sound
limb.
SCOPe practitioners are specially trained and
experienced in fitting the most advanced ischial containment sockets
for
above-knee prostheses.
These sockets provide the highest level of stability and control
through anatomical containment of the ischial portion of the
pelvis. Our sockets also maximize comfort to the patient with anatomical
shape and flexible design. The prosthetic socket component works
in harmony with the C-Leg components to create the most advanced
above-knee prosthesis available. We carefully evaluate above-knee
patients to determine if they are good candidates for the C-Leg,
and if they are, we work with the patient and insurance company
to expedite the authorization process.
When you receive your
C-Leg, we'll program the computer in the knee system to specifically
meet your needs. This allows
you to
walk with
the most natural gait, while reducing energy consumption and
increasing stability and confidence. Things like walking
down stairs, up and
down ramps, and even through uneven terrain are all much easier
with the C-Leg.
It is very rewarding to be able to provide
care that allows our patients to increase their functional level
to the point
where
they can get
back to living their lives. Our C-Leg patients report that
they are able to perform many activities that were out of
their reach
before
they were fit with their new, computerized prosthesis.
