When Eddy's father became
an amputee, he found the rehabilitation process interesting. Eager
for a change from his work as a staff biologist and wanting to
help other people with disabilities like his father, Eddy turned
his focus to orthotics and prosthetics. The field of orthotics
and prosthetics offered Eddy an opportunity to combine his biophysical
background with biomechanics. In 1989, after working with an orthotics
and prosthetics company in Los Angeles, Eddy Gosschalk, C.P.O.,
joined
SCOPe Orthotics & Prosthetics, Inc.
Eddy recieved his Bachelor of Science in Biophysics from the University
of California at Berkeley in 1984. He attended the University of California in Los
Angeles in 1985 for his prosthetics training and in 1986 went on to Northwestern University in Chicago
for his orthotics education. Two years later, Eddy became certified in
both orthotics and prosthetics from the American Board for Certification
(ABC) in Orthotics and Prosthetics..
A native of Santa Monica, California, Eddy enjoys hiking, tennis, gardening,
carpentry, playing the piano, and spending time with his family. As an
active member of the community, Eddy serves as the President elect of the
La Mesa Rotary. Eddy was also appointed Liason to the American Foot & Ankle
Society for the American Academy of Orthotics and Prosthetics.
