In 1973, Loren became certified in both orthotics
and prosthetics from the American Board of Certification in Orthotics
and Prosthetics (ABC). With
over 35 years of O & P experience, Loren has earned a national
reputation as an expert in orthotics (bracing) treatment of post-polio
patients and is a recognized specialist in pediatric orthotics.
Loren, who had polio as a child, understands first-hand what can
be achieved with today's technology.
Loren received his orthotics
and prosthetics training at the renowned Rancho Los Amigos Hospital
in Downey, California. Rancho Los Amigos was the west
coast polio center during the epidemic years. He went on to receive further
orthotics and prosthetics education at UCLA, Northwestern University-Chicagoand Lousiana State University.
In July 1982, Loren, along with Anthony
DiSanto, C.P. and Kel Bergmann, C.P.O.,
founded SCOPe Orthotics and Prosthetics, Inc. He is an owner
of the corporation.
