Founded in 1982, SCOPe is different from large
national companies that sell orthotic and prosthetic devices.
We're a tight-knit group of people working to
make dreams happen. We provide our patients with LifeLong Care™,
designing, fitting, and delivering ways for our customers to maximize
their ability, flexibility, and independence.
We serve patients in Southern California through
the largest group of independently owned and managed offices in
the area. We're proud to count among our colleagues many practitioners
who have received national recognition as experts in such specialties
as pediatric and geriatric prosthetics, upper limb myoelectric
prosthetics, spinal and neurological disorders, post-polio syndrome.
and sport and adult rehabilitation.
Every SCOPe office is owned and managed by practicing
orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) practitioners – the
very same people our patients meet, work, and consult with every
day. Many
SCOPe practitioners are patients, too, so we know what the best
orthotic and prosthetic care can accomplish – from both sides.
We strive every day to be the best in the world
at what we do.
SCOPe is the largest and most comprehensive
orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) provider in San Diego County
and one of the largest practitioner-owned and operated O&P
companies in the United States.
Our Mission
As individual practitioners and as a company,
SCOPe is dedicated to providing LifeLong Care™ that is:
- Individualized
- Accessible
- Affordable
- Appropriate
Certification and Accreditation
ABC Certification of Facilities and Practitioners
SCOPe practitioners are certified by the American
Board of Certification for Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC), which
means we've trained extensively and met the highest standards of
our profession.
In fact, two certification facts set us apart
from any other O&P provider in Southern California:
- More of our staff is ABC-certified than any other provider
in the region
- All 13 of our facilities are fully accredited
To check the credentials of other providers,
call the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics
at (703) 836-7114. Ask for current certification status for orthotists
and prosthetists and accreditation status of their facilities.
Joint Commission On Accreditation Of Healthcare
Organizations (JCAHO) Reporting
In 1995, JCAHO, the United States' largest healthcare
accrediting organization, included specific accreditation standards
for hospitals relating to the services provided by outside orthotics
and prosthetics vendors.
Although O&P providers are not directly
accountable to JCAHO, we believe it is our responsibility to serve
hospitals and patients to the highest possible standards of care.
We voluntarily monitor our compliance with JCAHO
standards and regularly provide necessary documentation to hospitals
for our services, and we collaborate with the hospitals we serve
to demonstrate and report compliance for JCAHO review.
The hospitals we work with report that SCOPe
is the only O&P company to provide them with the documentation
they need for their JCAHO accreditation reporting requirements.
